Oh, my aching sushi!!!

All right, so summer's over and there are fewer pretty girls in tank tops. But still, if you think about it, we're still better. We are utterly beautiful, talented, intelligent, and amazing girls who don't need to show off skin to feel worthy. Too bad we're too good for you.

I hate Blogger.

It erased my post. A really long one. Crap.

Anyway, I will address some things that I didn't originally but I will now.

a) Monsieur teh William, there wasn't any way you could persuade me to erase that last post. Why? Because you can't go and pretend something like that doesn't exist. It happens. You learn from it, and how can you if you delete it from your memory or try to hide it??

b) Ash and I are okay now. I think. We just kept hurting each other over and over for months and months, and so after confronting each other, we're really vulnerable but we are trying to make everything better.

c) I will be gone from 10 on Thursday morning until 4-ish Sunday night because of DCON. Do not try think you can directly talk to me unless you want to call my cell at 7 in the morning or 11:30 at night. I doubt you would want to risk your beauty sleep for me anyway, so if you need me, just leave a message saying what you need and what times I'd be able to call you. I may have 5 or 10 minutes between agenda events, and I'll try to get back to you when I'm not socializing/speaking to a crowd of 300/politicking for a higher position on the exec board/running workshops/sitting in on workshops/dancing/eating/sleeping/cleaning up parts of the hotel/making sure my lil' froshies are doing all right without me. (I'm sure they will be fine, though. They are quite the kids.)

d) I have to go clothes/costume shopping at Goodwill/anywhere cheap and easy to find things that can be converted into a 50's poodle skirt or a construction outfit (due to our theme, "Building Better Tomorrows"). Anyone wanna go w/ me? Give me a call. (CRAP! I need saddleshoes, too!!! How the heck am I going to find some in 24 hours?????? Grrr...)

e) I will be finishing my April agenda once I get back from DCON, so I'll e-mail you guys my schedule so if you want to get together and do something, you'll know when NOT to ask me. I think that will make it easier on everyone and will prevent you from complaining and saying, "Where's she going NOW?"

Easter Greetings...

Apparently Ash has pulled herself from OMAS! because my last post was too malicious.

WTC?

If I want to post a conversation (or three) I had with one of the most important people in my life, I can do that. You have a prom dress, Ash. If you want to believe I was being mean and not including you in our trip to the mall on purpose, then you can very well believe that. See if I freakin' care.

I'm tired of this.

"What About Me?"

SPRING BREAK ROCKS!

Or, at least, it does so far. OMG... I planned a shopping trip for prom dresses with Jane and Ali (since their prom is coming up), and even though Ali couldn't come :( , it was still so much fun! (See Jane for your present, Ali. I think you'll enjoy it!)

Highlights:
(In Victoria's Secret) Jane: Sarah! Everything you pick out is all... pink and frilly!
Sarah (a.k.a. ME!): HEY! I like the pink, frilly ones. And you know what? If my husband complains about my choice in lingerie like you do, he ain't gettin' any.

(In delia's) Jane: Look, Sarah! Who does that remind you of? (points to shirt that says "I heart skinny guys with glasses")
Sarah: Shut up.

(In F21) Sarah: Look at that purse!
Jane: You are so girly.
Sarah: Fine... OOH! They have it in pink!
Jane: *sigh*
Sarah: This is so cute!!!!
Jane: You are hopeless.
Sarah: How do I look in this hat?
Jane: *snicker*
Sarah: JEWELRY! Let's go ov-
Jane: Thongs! *pulls Sarah's arm over to table* We're going to get you something that's non-frilly!
Sarah: OOH! This one has roses!
Jane: Or not.
Sarah: RHINESTONES!
Jane: At least it's black. Pink...*shudder*

*20 minutes later*
Jane: JUST PICK ONE!
Sarah: I don't know... How about...bright green? *beams, having finally selected one*
Jane: Uhhh...(thinks: GREEN? What the *beep*?) Well, I guess my little girl's growing up. She doesn't even pick a thong.
Sarah: Wait... What is it, then?
Jane: That's a g-string, honey.
Sarah: Crap.

Thought that was funny. We even have pictures of us and our "merchandise" that we'll have developed soon. That is, if the photo place doesn't get rid of them for indecency. We did look kinda slutty. HAHAHA! Love ya, Jane! We need to do that again!!!

Thought this was interesting......

I found this in the deep, dark dungeon of my computer. Enjoy! I think that a lot of it is true. What does everyone else think? Opinions please!

I believe...

that we don't have to change friends

if we understand that friends change.

I believe...

that no matter how good a friend is,

they're going to hurt you every

once in a while and you must

forgive them for that.

I believe...

that true friendship continues to grow,

even over the longest distance.

Same goes for true love.

I believe...

that you can do something in an instant

that will give you heartache for life.

I believe...

that it's taking me a long time

to become the person I want to be.

I believe...

that you should always leave loved ones

with loving words. It may be the last

time you see them.

I believe...

that you can keep going

long after you think you can't.

I believe...

that we are responsible for what we do,

no matter how we feel.

I believe...

that regardless of how hot and

steamy a relationship is at first,

the passion fades and there had

better be something else to take its place.

I believe...

that heroes are the people

who do what has to be done

when it needs to be done,

regardless of the consequences.

I believe...

that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I believe...

that my best friend and I can do anything

or nothing and have the best time.

I believe...

that sometimes the people you expect

to kick you when you're down,

will be the ones to help you get back up.

I believe...

that sometimes when I'm angry

I have the right to be angry,

but that doesn't give me

the right to be cruel.

I believe...

that just because someone doesn't love

you the way you want them to doesn't

mean they don't love you with all they have.

I believe...

that maturity has more to do with

what types of experiences you've had

and what you've learned from them

and less to do with how many

birthdays you've celebrated.

I believe...

that it isn't always enough to be

forgiven by others. Sometimes you

have to learn to forgive yourself.

I believe..

that no matter how badly your

heart is broken the world doesn't stop for

your grief.

I believe...

that our background and circumstances

may have influenced who we are,

but we are responsible for who

we become.

I believe...

that just because two people argue,

it doesn't mean they don't love each other

And just because they don't argue,

it doesn't mean they do.

I believe...

that you shouldn't be so eager

to find out a secret.

It could change your life forever.

I believe...

that two people can look at exactly the

same thing and see something totally different.

I believe...

that your life can be changed

in a matter of hours

by people who don't even know you.

I believe...

that even when you think you

have no more to give,

when a friend cries out to you

you will find the strength to help.

I believe-

that credentials on the wall

do not make you a decent human being.

I believe-

that the people you care about most in life

are taken from you too soon.

"You Look Good in My Shirt"

The title has no relevance whatsoever to this post. I just love that song.

Wow to the past two days. While horribly unsuccessful, they have been incredibly super-duper fun. (I know, it's out of character for me to say that, but hey - I'm happy, so who gives a crap? Don't answer that.)

Thursday night: MUN Security Council started off with Iranian Non-Proliferation, and representing Pakistan (with Evan) was a battle from the start. Darn those with veto power! Had too much crap to do, so Ash, William, and I were dropped off instead of going out to get food. :(

Friday: Sat in on 40 minutes of ID (Disc to you, Evan!) before heading off for MUN. Got owned on our resolution because the signatories refused to vote on it in the end. News flash: North Korean missile crisis. (Oh, no! We didn't research that one! :P) Sudan crisis... Got owned again because we decided to uphold our beliefs and not to compromise our country's integrity (i.e. Chile, who almost completely reversed its opinion from what it should have been). Ended up not winning anything, but things were good. Spent some time in the library with Sasha, although due to unfortunate circumstances we could not go get ice cream. :( I'm always deprived of my food.
Went to get my passport done, but we had only one check and no credit cards on us so I could only buy my pics (which are AMAZING for really quick passport photos). The rest I'll get done next week.

Saturday: Got on the crapping speech bus at 6:30 to go to state, which turned out to be a complete FAILURE because the only person who passed into the first round of semifinals was Ammar. Seriously. Everyone else received really bad scores. I got 3 out of 7 and 4 out of 7 my first round and 2 out of 7 and 5 out of 7 the second round. (Dang... Discrepancies, anyone?) And sadly enough, those were really some of the best scores for our school. Yeah. We bombed like nothing else. Evan got two 6's in his first round, Ayisha got 6,7,6,7 for her first two rounds... It was soooo strange because people did better at districts than state. Whatever. I just want 8 points to send me off into the 200's on NFL points. Watch me get 7 and I'll be stuck at 199 until next fall. *sigh* HAHA! Then Slemenda, Shouse, Evan, William, Amanda and I all spent about 2 hours at Fazoli's eating and talking and having amazing conversations about stuff that I'm not quite sure would be appropriate here. Life next year without the seniors is going to be so depressing. I freakin' LOVE the seniors!!!! Needless to say (though I will, anyway), we now have enough inside jokes from dinner tonight to write on shirts. That would actually be a fun idea, and only the six of us would have them! WOO for elite speechers! YAH!
Ah... Haven't laughed so hard in awhile. I need to loosen up more. (No comments from the audience, please.) I'm always so tense and serious. And when I come home, I find that I have a new monitor with better resolution! YES! It so rocks, although it's the same size as the other one.

*sigh* Life is so crapping good. Give me spring rains and break and books I've been needing to read and nature sounds and I'll be in my own heaven.

And there goes the template... *sigh*

Congrats to Ash-a-wee and O-wiv-ee-ah! :P I just love baby talk.

What do I have to say?

Jap. II classes start the day after I start driver's ed.

I currently am working on a 5-point plan to improve myself. I need it. Summary:
1) When the weather gets nice, I'm going to take a walk every day after school (with or without the dogs). In the summer, on those few days that I will be here, I'm going to play basketball w/ the neighbors (how I miss that!! I haven't shot hoops in AGES!) and run in the morning (around 6). This will a) get my butt off the ground so I can actually do something and b) get me fit for dance next year. Besides, I complain about no privacy in my house and my need to get away and think, so what better way than this? (I need trees and fresh air when I exercise, which is why I never joined a gym and why I can't do anything until the weather gets better.)
2) I need to start reading for fun more. I have so many books that people buy me, but I never have time to read them, so here's my chance to say "Hey, Am, stop being stupid and start reading avidly like you used to!!!" Sure, I could never beat Jane, but I came close. Well, sorta.
3) Practice my violin more. Two hours a week is not going to cut it. I'm slacking and I know it. Enough of faking my way through a difficult song when we're in concert.
4) Write more. Enough said here. I know Ash, Olivia, Ali and Jane are reading this going "YES! It's about time!!!" Well, here's my semipromise to you.
5) This may be the hardest or easiest step, but I've been noticing that I have a ton of crap. You all know how much stuff I've got in here. I fill up my room (which is twice the size of Moms' den), claim half the stuff in the basement, and own most of the stuff stowed away in the shed. Well, I never noticed it until I'd clean my room and I realized I had no place to put anything. And goodness, for a neat freak/interior design freak like I am, that's tough to deal with. Anything out opf place annoys me. I can always tell if someone's been in my room, b/c my mother doesn't leave my mouse directly center on my mousepad and she puts my coaster a certain way. My dad always puts my clothes in my closet wrong. How long will it take him to realize my clothes are put in my closets from casual to professional and in color-coded order within those categories?? And forget my CD rack. Almost 100 CDs in order of genre, then alphabetical by artist, then by release date. I'm obsessed. I have to have order. But back to the topic: I'm going to pretty much get rid of half the stuff in my room in June. It's hard for me to say it, but a) I'm too materialistic and I know it and b) I live in luxury. I'm gonna give a lot of my stuff to those who need it (like stuffed animals to Riley and old shoes to Nike's "Reuse A Shoe" campaign that Janice told me about). I'm spoiled. Too much. I need to work on that.

I realized how much I needed a planner, so I got one for my desk, plus some other ones to carry w/ me. Here's my schedule for this week, according to my desk calendar:
Monday - Key Club @ 3:00, MEOW/newspaper deadline day 3:30-5:15, violin lessons 7:00-7:30, plus calling up Board of Education members and interviewing them [didn't work out so well. only got hold of one, and so she'll be my profile source after I interview her second period.]
Tuesday - newspaper deadline day 3:00-5-ish, Jazz Band concert thingy w/ Catie at 7:30
Wednesday - mandatory Europe trip meeting @ 3:00, show Cash and Coryell my piece for state @ 3:30, go get my passport done @ 4-ish, prepare MUN position
Thursday - MUN @ whenever after school
Friday - MUN all day (NO SCHOOL!)
Saturday - State Speech all day, BBall Sectionals
Sunday - interview Grandpa for ID project w/ O-wiv-ee-ah
Notes - get N* app and KC statement of candidacy app prepared (includes principal's sig and letters of recommendation) and ready for the 22nd and 21st (respectively), get forms signed for United Way Youth Day of Caring and MUN, and do everything else school-related (i.e. homework)

Oh, yes, and stay alive. Actually, though, this is an easier week (though less fun now that Jap classes aren't in session). I'm not quite as swamped, so I can do more social things (like Tuesday w/ Catie). YAY! But yes, there's why I needed a planner.

Good night, all.

haha...well people's, i think i've been the laziest out of all y'allz! i have officially not posted since the end of decemember. but i'll make up for it now, but in a very paraphrased form. that should be easy since not much has happened. so january...can't remember much from that month...so let's skip to february...hm...ok...can't remember what happened then either. haha. isn't this wonderful. ok, so this month!!! this i can do. got my hair permed!!! not in the way that you're probably thinking though. i just have some waves in my hair that you can't really tell unless i put gel in it. i dunno which i like better because i originally wanted a perm so i wouldn't have to mess with my hair to make it look like something, but turns out, i have to put more work into making it look presentable. *sigh, so that kinda backfired on me. here's a before and after pic.

I'm breaking the trend...

...of Ashley writing five million entries in a row! ;-) How is everyone? I'm good, though I should be studying for an Algebra II midterm right now. Oh math, how I do detest thee.

I took the SAT on Saturday. It's SO LONG. I was exhausted afterwards. I only had trouble with the math parts. The essay wasn't bad. I thought it was going to be hard to come up with something off the top of my head (they give you a topic, but you know what I mean) but it didn't have to be long at all, so that made it easier. I guess I'll have to wait and see how I did! I'll probably end up taking it again the fall of senior year, since most colleges will combine the best scores from all the times you take it, and hopefully I'll do better on the math sections next time.

Sarah will probably post pictures of this later, so I will leave most of the details for her to tell, but swing dancing with Interdisc at Fountain Square on Friday was SO much fun!! I can't believe I almost didn't go! If you ever have the chance, do it, because it's a blast! :-D

Indeed, tomorrow is when Ashley and I find out about IU Honors. She, however, should not be worried considering she is a genius in French and has the most obvious enthusiasm of any of the applicants, as far as I can tell. So Ashley, even though you will probably not read this before tomorrow, stop worrying! I'm sure you're in! :o)

Romani ite domum

I never talked about my trip! For those of you who don't know, I took a lovely week long trip to New York and New Jersey to look at colleges. Okay, as far as the schools...
Princeton
Pros: omg, I love that school. It is just beautiful. It has an awesome program that I want to major in.
Cons: In order to major in what I want to, I have to apply again at the end of my sophmore year. If I don't get in, then I have to change my major. That's a problem. So currently, Princeton is #2 on my list.
On a side note I met my cousin Becky for the first time in a long time. She talked to me, which is like the first time since I was 5. I even have a picture!

So yeah. She's a student there. Her older sister Kathy just got married last sumer and her younger sister Kimberly is a year younger than me.

Drew
Pros: I am more in love with this school than I am Princeton. It has 2 study programs at the UN, that would give me 16 credit hours. They look for a 5 or better on IB tests. They offer lots and lots of money too. If you're in the top half of their applicant pool they're willing to give you $10,000 scholarships that are renewable every year! If you're one of their strongest applicants, they're willing to give you a renewable scholarship of 75 or 100% of the costs. That makes a happy, happy Ashley. Also, I didn't thinkt hat I would like this, but I do: They are small. They have 1500 undergrads and 1000 grads mostly in theology, who you really don't see all that much.
Cons: The only con that I can think of is that they don't have a specific "International Affairs" major....they have polisci with an emphasis in IA, which is just as good. They have 16 differernt classes for that track.

NYU
Well, what can I say? It was a nice school, that I would be thrilled to go to, but it's not the first on my list. I think that it will be a realistic school for me to get into, but if I am admitted to Drew, I'd rather go there.

Currently I am thinking that I want to apply early decision for Drew. I still have to look at Northwestern, and I'm going to look at Penn. If you have others that you think that I should consider tell me! Seriously, I need to start doing this! I'm looking for a school with a good international affairs or polisci program. I also don't want a school in Indiana perferably. It might just be me, but I want to go somewhere else for college. Ah well. Thanks!

L'enfer: C'est les Autres

Because I don't think that you'll be able to find that quote I'll give it to you: Hell, it's the others. It's from a play by Jean Paul Sartre called Huis Clos in English it translates to "No Exit." You can find a translated version here. It's a good play. You should read it. It's better in French, but very difficult to read in French. So if you think that you know enough French, go ahead and try.
Anyways, I'm supposed to be preparing for Congres in a week. Bethany, Daniel, and I are doing a selection from Huis Clos for our Advanced level play. I'm so excited! Bethany and I already went out and bought our costumes. I just need to make a letter opener now that I can pretend to stab Bethany with. It's a long story that you really need to read the book to understand fully. I'm playing Estelle, the poor orphan girl who doesn't know why she's in hell. Bethany is Ines, who's trying to get together with me, and Daniel is Garcin who wants to be alone. So yeah....
Otherwise, this weekend is going soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo slowly! I want Monday to come! I want to know whether or not I am going to France and whether or not I'm going to St. Brieuc or Brest.
Speaking of Brest, I had a lot of fun playing Dimplomacy yesterday with everyone. That's such an interesting game. And I didn't mean to take that country from you Marten, lol!!! :-D It was just there. Ungaurded!
And I have most of my physics done. I just need to finish up a couple of questions on the lab. Monday we have to bring in music/musical instruments. We get extra credit which right now I really really really really need. Stupid test. I'm bringing in my flute and oboe. Mainly my oboe, but in case it doesn't work, I'll have my flute there. (It's flakey. It sometimes wants to work for you; other times, yeah, right. You'll never get it to work.) I think that I have all my lines memorized for HC but I'm not sure so I'd better work on that today and tomorrow. I also have to do some Latin essay questions over The Flames of Rome. Another good book, if anyone is interested. So yeah.
Evan installed Gaim on my computer last night. It's so awesome!! I love it to peices. (This means that the time that I should have been using to work on homework has been spent figuring out how to log conversations etc., but it's fun!)
We really need to change this:

Il ne faut jamais dire « Fontaine je ne boirai pas de ton eau ».

Never say, "Fountain, I shall not drink of your water."
Thought that was an interesting quote.
I find out about IU Honors on Monday. I'm really afraid that I didn't make it. I don't want to get my hopes up though because I don't want to be crushed when/if I don't make it.
So yeah....this thing seems to have died. Does anyone still read it including the people who post here?
So yeah. Half day tomorrow. Half day today too! Today Bethany and I went to Goodwill to look for Huis Clos clothes. I bought a dress. It's not as bad as it would sound if I described it, but it's better than the Emily Dickinson dress, for those of you who saw it. There were some people who liked that dress, and others who hated it. I was one who wasn't fond of it, although it could be worse.
Speaking of Emily, we get to read her poetry in English. yay. I'm so excited. Only I'm not. Although if I think about it, I should be because this means that the only thing left that we have to read is MacBeth. Shakespeare is good because I'm writing my extended essay on him. (That should be an interesting essay, don't you think?) I need to start that soon though.
I'm actually using TOK in it. But SHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! don't tell anyone! We're discussing Aristoltle and his views on tragedy.....because my essay is about tragedy, I think that it would work well. Ah well. I'm leaving you all now. Goodbye! *crickets chirp* No applause? That makes me sad!
AH! It's the vicious rabbit! (Who apparently has 3 teeth!)

amicus certus in re incerta cernitur.

"A true friend is discerned during an uncertain matter"
Thank you, Cicero! Hm...that reminds me I have to do that project due on Wednesday..... stupid Latin project.
Okay, yeah. I just got back from Lafayette, where I met with the tenured theology professor I'm going to be helping. Apparently he needs me to help him sort through stuff and send reminders to people who act as readers for the journal he publishes. I'll probably also end up sending out the articles to the readers for them to respond. It's going to be fun! He's writing a book on mathematical representations of the Trinity.
I also met with Isabell, the grad student with whom I'm going to help do research. The project sounds SO AWESOME. I can't wait to get involved on this new area. Apparently no one had really done any reliable research in this field until 1996, and even then the results and methods are questionable. But I can't wait! It's going to be a blast! It's so awesome to be in on an almost not researched part of the human brain! We're looking at different ways emotions are processed.YAY! :-D I'm so excited!
AH! It's the vicious rabbit! (Who apparently has 3 teeth!)

Fluctuat nec mergitur.

I'm back! Yes, I, Ashley, am back on the internet! I have returned! I told you all that I would eventually be back on here! Bwahahahahah!
Okay, yeah. The quote means "Shaken by the waves, but it will not sink" I think that it would be a good motto to adopt.
Anyways, I should find out about IU Honors soon. I hope that I got in, although I doubt that I did. My interview went well. Apparently I scored a near perfect if not a perfect on that test I took October 30. One of the few things that is making me happy, although I'm getting a B+ in French now. I don't know why. I don't really care either.
AH! It's the vicious rabbit! (Who apparently has 3 teeth!)
